I've been waiting all year…when does NIGHTMARE: IS KILLER start?
Fall 2012 the NIGHTMARE returns!!!
Is it scary?
Yes. but this year is more theatrical than most. Our goal is to scare you, no question, but this year could also be described as moody, creepy, eerie and twisted. A disturbing experience
What is it, anyway?
NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES is not a classic walk-through haunted house. It is an immersive and interactive experience: You and a group of 8 to 12 people will go through the haunted forest together. You will see awful things happen to your favorite Fairy Tale characters, and you will have awful things happen to you by the same. You will leave unsettled.
Can I wear a Halloween costume?
Yes, but masks, props and costumes that extend the body ARE NOT permitted in NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES! It's not safe and it makes it hard for everyone to have a good and scary experience.
Where is it?
NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES is Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center (CSV) located at 107 Suffolk Street between Rivington and Delancey. Click here for more information.
How do I get there?
Will I be touched?
Yes, but only a little. Nothing confrontational or aggressive
Is this appropriate for children?
NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES is oriented for adults; it is not a kid-style haunted house! Only you know how bold your children are, but no one under sixteen (16) will be admitted without a parent or guardian; children under 16 are strongly cautioned. NO CHILDREN UNDER 10 WILL BE ADMITTED! It is actually designed to scare the more fearless adult—it’s VERY SCARY. Parents know what their kids can handle, but if we feel that an adult is forcing a kid to go in against their will, we’ll intervene. Remember, there are no refunds. No children under 10 will be admitted, no matter what!
Is there a dress code?
The experience is somewhat physically challenging– There is uneven footing, it’s very dark, there are lots of twists and turns. Don’t wear high heels or skimpy sandals or gigantic platform shoes or clothes that keep you from moving freely. It’s a crowded environment and people are scared, which means they get a little sweaty, so its a lot better if you don’t wear your white cashmere sweater or your brand-new white jeans. Your shoes may get stepped on and your clothes might get mussed. Please wear appropriate clothing– and shoes!
Is there a long wait?
Not if you buy a line-busting VIP HAUNT ticket, which lets you skip the line. Otherwise, tickets are sold in thirty-minute time slots. For instance, if you buy a ticket for the 7:00PM time slot, you will enter the house between 7:00PM and 7:30PM. Please arrive fifteen minutes before your scheduled entrance time. A limited number of VIP HAUNT tickets will be available at the box office. Once those are gone, no more tickets will be sold for that day. NEW this year: The Super VIP for $100, which gets you to the front of the line, a Good Luck Bag, a t-shirt, two drinks and a backstage tour with the director after you walk through the event.
Will I be able to leave the haunted house if it is too scary?
Yes, but there are no refunds.
I bought a ticket in advance, but can’t make it. May I get a refund or switch my ticket to a different time or different day?
Sorry. There are no refunds or exchanges.
Can I bring a group?
Yes, but all of our group sales are now being done through our ticketing agency with few exceptions. Click here to purchase your group of 10 or more. Call Ovationtix at 212.352.3101 for groups of 15 or more.
Is this handicapped accessible?
Yes!
Are there stairs?
Yes, but not in the haunted house. You will have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the second event The Experiment
Are there any other limitations that I should be aware of before I buy a ticket?
Yes. The house is not recommended for people with back or heart problems, pregnant women, those prone to seizures, anyone with an affliction exacerbated by anxiety or fear, or those with mobility problems. Further, there are enclosed spaces and minimal climbing may be necessary during part of the tour. You should also know that STROBE LIGHTS are used in the haunted house. There is fog. It’s also dark in there, just so you know. There are loud noises, too. It’s supposed to SCARE you—it’s a haunted house! Finally, management has the right to refuse entrance and to eject persons who touch the actors, are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or who are unruly or violent. No refunds or exchanges will be given.
Anything else I should know?
Yes. NIGHTMARE: FAIRY TALES is an interactive experience. You will be walking through the haunted house, there is uneven footing and varying ceiling heights in some areas, so wear sensible shoes. There IS a coat check at the Box Office. It costs $3 per item.
How many people can go on a tour together?
Depends on the night and how busy it is, but if it's slower you can go in with your date or by yourself. When it is very busy the groups may be as large as 12-15 people. But no more than 15 ever.
If you're sold out both online and at the door, is there any chance of getting in?
We do our best to get as many people in as possible without compromising the quality of the experience. We'll get you in as long as space and time allow, and if you don't mind waiting for a bit.
How long does it take to go through?
That depends on when you can’t take it anymore. The haunted house will take about 20-25 minutes and The Experiment will take about 15-20 minutes with a slight wait between the two
Is there a place to buy a drink or a snack at the venue?
Yes.
Is there a coat check?
Yes.
Can I buy a T-shirt or other merchandise?
Yes! We have T-shirts and lots of other Nightmare stuff, but bring CASH. The kiosk doesn’t take credit or debit cards.
Can I use my credit card at the box office?
Yes.
I bought and printed my ticket in advance. Do I need to visit the box office?
No! As soon as your entire party is ready to enter, you can get right in line!
I bought my ticket in advance, but didn’t print it. What now?
Just visit the box office, give the attendant your last name and credit card. He or she will print your ticket. As soon as your entire party is ready to enter, you can get right in line!
Is there an ATM at the venue?
No.
Are there restrooms?

I lost my: scarf, jacket, sweater, cell phone, notebook, wallet, purse, necklace, bracelet, glasses. Can I go back in and find it?
Sorry, we CANNOT look for lost items when the house is running. If you lose something while you’re in the haunted house, report it to the box office right away. The attendant will keep your name and contact information and we will look for your property at closing that night. You’ll be contacted the next day and, if we find your item, you can come pick up your property at the box office on the next performance day.
Any other rules and regulations?
